You might have experienced some instances when you were troubled by a call, a note posted on your refrigerator door, or a message you retrieved from your answering machine telling you that a visitor will drop by your house within the day for some reason, and when you look around you, all you can see is mess. Upon looking at the clock just to see that you do not have ample time for general cleaning and you don’t have enough time to make excuses either since the guest may be on his way to your house as you stand there, you got even more frustrated.

In cases like this, what you need is power cleaning. Keep a steady mind, get into comfortable clothes that you can afford to get soiled or stained, roll up your sleeves and get ready to get messy. For your power cleaning task, remember to keep your friends, which in this case are your cleaning tools and equipment, with you or within your reach. If your clothes have pockets, you can put small brushes, dry cleaning cloth, and other small tools your pockets can hold. If you have one, you can wear cleaning aprons with deep pockets in them. Start with the room that your visitor is more likely to see. Since the living room is the common receiving area of a house, clean it first. If your visitor is inclined to stay overnight, clean the room and the bathroom that he will use.

In power cleaning, the best way to start is to remove all the things that do not belong in the room. You don’t have to put them into their designated storage areas right away, you can just put them in a big plastic bag and place it just outside the room, near the doorway but make sure they do not stand in your way. After doing such, you can start cleaning the room from top to bottom and put the things in their proper places afterwards.
