Growing a Garden without a Yard

With the price of almost everything, especially food, skyrocketing, and with more and more people getting more concerned about their health, growing a vegetable garden can be a very nice and productive hobby. But, even though many individuals are interested in growing a garden, most of them do not have a yard.

People who live in a condominium, an apartment or simply in a small house with not enough room to grow some plants can still grow their own vegetables by planting them on pots. There are some types of vegetables and herbs that do not necessarily require a garden bed to grow. All one needs to have is a space where sunlight can reach the plants like windows, some space outside at the sides of the entry door, or the small lot area just below the windows, and a few minutes within a day to water the plants and he can now have his own little garden in pots growing within his small premises. One can also use an old tire as a round garden bed. All you have to do is put it on the ground or on your patio and put soil in it. You can now plant your seeds into your recycled little garden bed, or pot, if the tire is small. Another option is to use plastic pots that can be hung onto the windows’ grills, rails and anywhere applicable as long as sunlight can reach it.

Different kinds of plants require different environmental conditions. Some may require a lot of sunlight while some will grow better in the shades. Some may require a lot of water while others can withstand days without water. Thus, one should need to know first these needs before choosing what seeds to plant.
