Installing gas cooktops is relatively easy because they have few moving parts. Prior to installing your gas cooktop, it is essential that you pick a location that can be accessed conveniently yet away from doors, open windows, ventilation systems, heating and air conditioning ducts. Turn the stovetop over in order for you to easily access its underside and then use the pipe sealant to coat the gas pipe nipple. Afterwards, screw on the gas regulator and tighten it in place using an adjustable pipe wrench. Then attach the gas regulator to the flexible gas line, use pipe sealant to seal the two, and tighten them in place using the pipe wrench. Set the gas cooktop in place and use the screws that come with the cooktop to secure it to the cooktop’s underside. You should also use pipe sealant when connecting the flexible gas line to the shut off valve. Check for leaks using soapy water.

If this is the first time you are installing a gas cooktop, it is advisable to hire a professional and let him install the gas and electric outlet. The electric outlet is for the control knob for igniting fire while the gas outlet is for the burners. Make sure that there is a clearance of at least 2 ½ inches from any of the combustible backsplash material on the back of the cooktop.
